CEE 420: Steel Design -  Dr. Mobasher

Project 1

Students of CEE 420: Steel Design were tasked in pairs of two to create a program using MATLAB along with the aide of an AISC 14 Manual for the purpose of calculating properties of any given member.  These properties included area, moments of inertia, radius of gyration, as well as section modulus for W-beams, channel sections, angle sections, rectangular HSS, as well as circular HSS beams.

My main contribution of this project consisted of the development of the MATLAB program as well as the composition of the written report.

CEE 321: Structural Analysis & Design -  Dr. Rajan

Design Project 2

As a two part design project in CEE 321: Structural Analysis & Design, the group consisting of 5 people was charged with the design of a ten and six floor building under certain specifications and structural requirements, minimizing the overall cost of the building. In the spirit of competition, a part of the grade was determined based on the economy of design.

My main contributions to the project consisted of load case computations that included detailed calculations of wind, live, and dead loads in accordance to ASCE 7-2010 along writing the majority of our report.  I also assisted in the optimization of the design that took space usage and cost into account.

The design that we created was awarded "Best Design" and awarded points for economy of design.
